History

Project RISHI is a student-run, non profit organization registered in the United States and India. It was founded in 2005 at the University of California, Los Angeles by Dr. Eri Srivatsan. Project RISHI Berkeley, founded in 2008, works with the village of Bharog Baneri, Himachal Pradesh in 2012.

Location

Bharog Baneri is a village of 1,400 people located in the Sirmaur District of Himachal Pradesh, India. Close to the Himalayan foothills, the Bharog has hilly terrain and lies roughly a mile above sea level. The village is split into 5 wards, with 1 school and a primary health center.
