What has been the primary focus/project this term?
We are primarily focusing on two main things: infrastructure and teacher absenteeism. We have currently built the desks for the kids as they have mentioned to us via the focus groups we created that their desks rip their clothes. Now we are focusing on the reconstruction of their bathrooms. They have a poorly designed bathroom where the roof has fallen down while people are in it, thus it is a safety and sanitary hazard.
Simultaneously we have been focusing on the lack of teachers the students have. Many important subjects like math, english, science, history have not been taught to them because of the lack of teachers. Since Bharog is in such a remote location, many teachers transfer out of teaching there leaving other teachers to teach multiple classes at the same time. We have so far been sending money to pay for the teacher’s salaries and now are looking for partnerships with other organizations to create a more sustainable source of funds for the teachers.

Gather Data and Career Panel (India Trip 2024)
We conducted focus group interviews with students, distributed household surveys, and toured the school to gather valuable insights that will inform future projects.
We hosted a career panel featuring two professors from Central University, who offered valuable advice on academic success and college preparation.
Build Desks and Fix Bathrooms (Fall/Spring 2024)
Built and funded over 25 desks for the school students. Renovated the infrastructure of the bathroom to improve its general hygiene for students.
College Panel (India Trip 2022)
Hosted a college panel two years in a row .
Connect with teachers (Fall/Spring 2020)
Connected with a new teacher, Ajay Sir, in the secondary school to get a deeper insight into the school situation.
Distribution of Learning Material (Spring/Fall 2019)
Distribution of Teacher Learning Materials to the primary schools to aid teachers.
Career Counseling Session (Spring/Fall 2018)
Hosted a career counselling session with Dr. Geeta who discussed different streams available for students in Bharog.
What is the group hoping to work on in future terms?
Looking for ways to help students and administration to receive computers
Starting a spoken english program that helps students learn english
More ways to give students other sorts of equipment like lab and gym
Trying to utilize the MOU with the Central University in Himachal Pradesh
