What has been the primary focus/project this term?

We are primarily focusing on two main things: infrastructure and teacher absenteeism. We have currently ​built the desks for the kids as they have mentioned to us via the focus groups we created that their desks rip their clothes. Now we are focusing on the reconstruction of their bathrooms. They have a poorly designed bathroom where the roof has fallen down while people are in it, thus it is a safety and sanitary hazard.

Simultaneously we have been focusing on the lack of teachers the students have. Many important subjects like math, english, science, history have not been taught to them because of the lack of teachers. Since Bharog is in such a remote location, many teachers transfer out of teaching there leaving other teachers to teach multiple classes at the same time. We have so far been sending money to pay for the teacher’s salaries and now are looking for partnerships with other organizations to create a more sustainable source of funds for the teachers.
